I'm Jane Doe. I live in New York City, where I design the future.

I've loved making things for as long as I can remember, and wrote my first program when I was 6 years old, just two weeks after my mom brought home the brand new Macintosh LC 550 that I taught myself to type on.

The only thing I loved more than computers as a kid was space. When I was 8, I climbed the 40ft oak tree at the back of our yard while wearing my idealized, totally handmade spacesuit, hoping to touch the sky. I got in trouble for that one.

I spent the next few summers indoors working on an approximate version of the Altair 8800. I managed to get far enough to plug a few lights in and make them turn on and off. My parents weren't thrilled, but that first tiny bit of feedback I got from my work gave me a feeling of satisfaction that I've spent the rest of my life chasing.

Today, I'm the founder of Planetaria, where we're working on making space more accessible to everyone.
